Throughout all aspects of its business, Thomas Cook has a clear mission
- to provide "Exceptional Service from Exceptional People." The company

to fulfill that mission.
Ownership:
Thomas Cook Holdings is jointly owned by Preussag AG, Westdeutsche
Landesbank, and Carlson Companies Inc. Westdeutsche Landesbank is
Germany's third largest bank; Preussag (Germany) is Europe's largest
tourism company; and Carlson (USA) is a global leader in corporate
and hospitality services within the travel, marketing, incentives
and hospitality industries. Thomas Cook's worldwide headquarters is
at 6 Midford Place, London W1A 1EB, United Kingdom.
Services:
Thomas Cook has a major travel retailing presence in the UK, Ireland,
Germany, Egypt, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India. In many
countries where the Group does not have wholly-owned travel operations,
it has partnerships and alliances with major travel companies that
share the same commitment to customer service. Thomas Cook arranges
all types of leisure travel, from long-haul expeditions to brief,
refreshing weekend getaways through its own in-house tour operators
and other well-known tour operators. With the goal of achieving leadership
in the provision of financial services, directly and through intermediaries,
to people on the move, as well as people and corporations moving money
around the world, Thomas Cook's Global and Financial Services division
encompasses the world's largest supplier of travellers cheques outside
the US, and the largest retail foreign exchange network in the world.
The Foreign Exchange network comprises more than 1,000 bureaux worldwide
where customers can purchase and sell travellers cheques, currency
bank notes and international money transfers. The travellers cheque
is one of the most enduring legacies of Thomas Cook, the company's
founder, who developed its precursor, the Circular Note, in 1874.
Today, Thomas Cook offers travellers cheques in the widest range of
currencies available. Our retail foreign exchange outlets also supply
a range of foreign cash and card products including Visa Travelmoney
and phonecards.
Thomas Cook also purchases encashed travellers cheques and bank notes
from other organisations through its Wholesale Foreign Exchange business.
This operation also provides international and local banking customers,
as well as the company's own bureaux, with bulk amounts of currency
notes. Corporate Foreign exchange services, providing international
drafts and wires, forward contracts and other products to corporations
in North America, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, are also available
through Thomas Cook. Thomas Cook maintains relationships with over
4,200 financial institutions in 188 countries.
